Our nursery is located in Goldington adjacent to the Children’s Centre on the East Side of Bedford, 1.5 miles from the town centre. It is served by a regular bus service and also has convenient street parking.
At Goldington, our caring staff provide full day care between 08.00 and 18.00 for up to 60 children ranging from 6 months to 5 years. We provide funded care; all-year round for 2-year-olds and during term time only for 3 and 4-year-olds. In addition to two large fully equipped rooms, the nursery has an attractive outside veranda-covered play area.
We additionally provide holiday club care and facilities for children up to the age of 11 with a wide variety of supervised indoor and outdoor activities that include cooking, arts and crafts, circus skills, and sports such as cricket, rounders, and football.

While developing language and communication, numeracy, problem solving, and physical skills, the children will also be supported in building relationships and gaining confidence, independence and self-esteem.
We have qualified staff with extensive experience in supporting children with special educational needs at the nursery and good working relationships with other agencies that may be involved in their care or able to provide additional support.
Our care and educational provision includes a varied and engaging programme of relevant topical activities such as for the King’s coronation, toddler tennis during Wimbledon fortnight, and a graduation day for children moving on to primary school in July. Also, special activities or events for the various festivals such as Christmas, Diwali, Easter, Eid. Located at the heart of Goldington we also encourage our children to explore their local area providing opportunities to visit play areas and parks, go on nature walks, engage in community events, and visit local churches and care homes.
We do love to get messy here at Wootton Community Nursery, as this is a great way for children to be able to express themselves in fine and gross motor skills. All children have the option to participate in the activities when they are ready to do so.
Activities can include:
We develop positive relationships with all, this enables children to feel safe and secure as well as developing their sense of respect towards others. As adults we role model the type of friendly, polite and respectful behaviour that we expect from the children. We ask that you as parents/carers also model this behaviour with your child to ensure consistency across home and nursery life.
Ofsted Good
We had our first Ofsted inspection on 10th February 2022 and we received a grade of GOOD, which we are very proud of as a nursery for our first report.
Childcare Funding
Here at Blue Orkids, we accept families who are entitled to the new 9 month old funding, the two year old funding, as well as the 15/30-hour funding for 3 and 4 year olds. All funded childcare is offered year round, and we also provide a holiday club for families who need additional care. For more information, please refer to our funding and fees section.
We can take children who are eligible for 2 year old funding and also families that can receive 30 hours funding for 3 year olds. This is used in the term time only however we do run a holiday club for children that need this.
Planning Process
We follow a planning process where each child will have 2 targets set to them over 6 weeks, by their key person, but this will also include the children’s interest as we have believe children learn best from what they are interested in.
